MyNext, GRAD & GRADNext are brought to you by
Ruda Landman and StudyTrust in partnership with Van Schaik Publishers.
Sponsored by Capitec Bank.
Leaving school and finding your way in the world is perhaps one of the most challenging things you will ever do. The team behind GRAD and GRADNext, which you can see below, has put together a step-by-step guide to support you on your way.
MyNext’s 58 pages are packed with graphics, pictures and space where you can write down your own thoughts. From study methods and a stress survival kit to get you through school, to clear explanations and guidelines for the route to study, work, or even starting your own business – it’s all here, in one package.
MyNext was developed so that anyone can print as much of it as they want. It’s A4 format, no copyright you have to worry about (a creative commons license, so you’re free to use it as long as you give credit), and is available in either black and white or colour.

GRAD – your guide to university success is a guide for students adjusting to the dramatic transition from secondary to tertiary studies. GRAD is designed to help recent school leavers understand the many changes and adjust to the new demands and challenges.
Thanks to the generous sponsorship by Capitec Bank, printed versions of this essential guide are every year provided to first-year students at most public residential universities in South Africa.
The text was compiled from material developed by the national bursary and student mentoring organisation StudyTrust by well-known journalist and TV presenter, Ruda Landman. Ruda rewrote everything in an easily accessible style and added original material. Van Schaik Publishers contributed the design and lay-out of the publication and distributed printed versions through the network of the South African National Resource Centre for the First Year Experience and Students in Transition.
To reach an even wider audience, the guide is also available on this website as an e-book, a pdf download, and a podcast – free of charge. There is also a downloadable workbook and other tools – see links below.
The same team that brought GRAD to life, collaborated to bring you GRADnext – crossing the divide from student to working adult. GRADnext was created to help final year tertiary students make the huge transition from student life to the working world.
The 20 short chapters contain clear and practical guidelines for every step of the way, from deciding where to go, to finding the job, getting it, and navigating the unknown waters of the world of working adults.
Printed copies are made available to the Career Centres at most public universities and universities of technology courtesy of generous sponsorship from Capitec Bank. As is the case with GRAD, the team at Capitec also contributed the content on “Managing Money”. The bulk of the material was again authored by Ruda Landman with inputs from various experts.
The links below give access to the e-book version, a downloadable pdf version, and a series of podcasts read by Ruda (Audio Files).
